Channarayapatna (Hassan dist): Six people, including a one-and-half-year-old boy, a woman and four men, were killed on the spot and five injured in a serial accident on the bypass road near the Baragur hand-post in the taluk on Wednesday evening.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. The injured are Prakash from Doddaguni village in Tumkur district, Santosh from Nittur, Priya, Vijay and Priya from Kundapur. They are undergoing treatment at an hospital in Hassan.

The accident occurred when the Indica car, which was on its way from Bangalore to Hassan, collided head on with a Honda City car coming from the opposite direction. A Ford rammed one of these cars from behind.

Police arrived at the spot and extricated the bodies from the cars with the help of a crane.
