Bangalore : Three men were killed in separate accidents in the City since Sunday night.
A security guard was killed on the spot, while three others sustained injuries after a multiutility vehicle (MUV) rammed a car near Kamaraj Road-Brigade Road junction in the early hours of Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ashwathnarayan, 30, a resident of Bhaktarahalli.
The MUV was ferrying employees from HPGR Tech Park in Whitefield to Vijayanagar when the accident occurred on MG Road.
The driver of the vehicle lost control after he spotted a car near the junction. Although he applied the brakes, the MUV rammed the car.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the MUV overturned, killing Ashwathnarayan on the spot. Three other passengers in the vehicle — Sundarjith, 35, Shivakumar, 38, and Naveen, 34,- sustained injuries. They were shifted to Bowring Hospital. All the three work as security guards.
Omprakash, an engineer, also travelling by the vehicle, escaped unhurt while Vinay, the driver of the car, sustained minor injuries, police said.
Rash and negligent driving of the MUV driver is said to have caused the accident and the police took its driver, Kumar, into custody.
Two men were killed when a car struck their bike in the Devanahalli traffic police limits on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Cheluvaraju, 48, and Chittibabu, 20, both natives of Tamil Nadu. They were employed as water suppliers in Kannur village.
According to police, the accident occurred while the two men were travelling from Kannur to Yerappanahalli. Cheluvaraju, who was riding the bike, was flung from his vehicle by the impact and came under the front wheels of the car. He was killed instantly.
Chittibabu sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police added.
The car driver abandoned his vehicle and fled. Police have seized the car and are searching for the driver. The bodies were moved to Dr Ambedkar Hospital for postmortem, police added.
