Mangaluru : Three Mangalureans who were lodged in Jeddah jail under charges of STC illegal Call Routing were released last week after constant efforts by the India Fraternity Forum, a social organization among the NRI in Saudi Arabia.
The release was ordered after a penalty was paid to STC. Officials confirmed that Riyaz Bajpe and Fairoos Ullal had been deported on May 7 while Nasir Bunder would be deported anytime soon.
As per a complaint filed, eight Mangalureans were charged with allegedly passing and routing of illegal telephone calls and were penalized with 6.7 million Saudi Riyals. However, the men’s families said that they were being framed as they did not know Arabic or English.
India Fraternity Forum decided to look into the matter and remained in constant touch with Indian Consulate Jeddah. They finally succeeded in freeing three accused while another accused Mohammed Shareef Kannur is expected to be released soon.
