Mangalore : As many as three container vessels including one mainline container vessel arrived at New Mangalore port on July 8, Monday. A press release from NMPT said this is the first time that three container vessels called on the port on a single day.
The three vessels are M V Oel Kutch, M V Noble Breeze and main line vessel M V Kota Nebula. They had a total of 2000 containers which were unloaded. MV Kota Nebula is from East Africa and is the fourth mainline vessel arriving at NMPT during the current year. The port has seen 35 mainline vessels so far.
Until now, the Port has handled 13,595 TEUs of containerized cargo as against 13,073 TEUs last year. The progress thus registered is 4 per cent, the press release said.
The pro-active business initiatives of NMPT has helped in the increase in container vessels said Dr P Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT.
