Mangalore : A three-year-old girl was found dead near Pumpwell on May 3, Saturday morning.

The deceased is identified as Srinidhi (3), daughter of Lokesh and Veda Poojary hailing from Hassan.

It is learnt that, girls’ mother Veda is working as a warden of a hostel near Pumpwell, while Lokesh resides in Hassan.

Little Srinidhi, who was seen playing near Pumpwell, where a drain is being constructed on Friday May 2 night and went missing later. But when searching, Srinidhi was not found anywhere and her mother has filed a missing complaint at Mangalore rural police station.

On May 3, morning, girl’s body was found in a drain some distance away from the spot. But locals feel that she was died under mysterious circumstances since the drain was not connected to another drain, where her body was found.

Mangalore rural police and corporator Asha D’Silva arrived at the spot.

The body was taken to a hospital for post-mortem. Investigations are on.
