Mangalore: The Engineer, B.V.S. Raghavan has agreed to conduct a fresh survey of land at he new dam in Thumbe, immersed in Netravathi floods now.
A meet was called on September 29 under MLA B. Ramanath Rai’s chairmanship, to hear the grievances of farmers led by Mamta Gatti. The survey of land has to be done in the presence of farmers.
Earlier, surveys were neither scientific nor proper. The officials at the meeting bowed to the mistakes pointed out by participants.
The MLA(Rai) asked officials to be transparent and honest in their acts. The special Land Acquisition officer Vasudheesh T., informed that the local GP had been asked to provide a correct information on land under waters to the people concerned.
Several local elected reps were present. The meeting discussed about drinking water arrangement to those who were flood affected, and a demand was made to allow traffic movements on the dam nearby.
