Mangaluru : Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will visit Mangaluru on August 29 and 30 to take part at national conference of All India Association of Catholic Schools at Fr Muller Auditorium, Kankanady.
This is the Tibetan guru’s first visit to Mangaluru. According to the schedule, he would arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport at 12.20 pm on Thursday. The next day, he would take part in the national conference of All India Association of Catholic Schools at Fr Muller Auditorium, Kankanady. He would leave on August 31 at 7 am.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil held a meeting and directed officials concerned to take care of the leader’s security details.
Dalai Lama, religious head of the Buddhist community, was last seen in the coast on July 2016, when he celebrated his 81st birthday and also the completion of the 50th year of Tibetans settling in Mundgod near Uttara Kannada. Then Karnataka government led by chief minister S Nijalingappa provided shelter and the land to the Tibetan community at Bailakuppe near Kushalnagar, North Kodagu and in Mundgod in Uttara Kannada.
