Mangaluru: Security in the coastal city has been increased as Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala will visit the city to attend a communal harmony programme on Saturday and also as a bandh opposing the CM’s visit has been called for on the same day.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Thursday, district Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase and Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar warned of strict action against those who violated the law. They said that as many as 2,000 police personnel and 20 KSRP platoons would be deployed.
Further, 600 CCTV cameras and six drone cameras will be used to keep a track of events, they said.
The officials also informed that notices had been issued to as many as 44 people for illegally declaring the bandh.
Meanwhile, the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has said that there would be no change in Saturday’s exam and it would go as per schedule.
The decision was taken after the Regional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada and C Shikha, Director, DPUE held a meet.
As many as 17,000 students from the district are expected to answer Basic Mathematics and Geography exams on Saturday.
