Mysore : The Century-old Mysore Zoo, known for its captive breeding programme, saw the tigress ‘Manya’ giving birth to three cubs, two male and one female.
According to B P Ravi, Conservator of Forests and Executive Director Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, the tigress, earlier sired by ‘Brahma’ had one of its cubs named as ‘Shaurya’ by Kumar Organic Ltd., who have adopted both the mother ‘Manya’ and ‘Shaurya’.
The cubs and their mother had been housed inside the holding room. they would be released into an open enclosure for visitors to see, shortly. It will be a good opportunity for the visitors to witness the playful and joyful lovely young ones in the open enclosure. At present, ten tigers are housed in the zoo, including the two cubs.
He said among the recent arrival to the Zoo are marmoset babies, born about two months back. ‘Marmoset’ which is also called pocket monkey, is lovely to watch and especially their young ones are very cute, attracting visitors. At present Mysore zoo is housing eight Marmosets.
