Mangalore : Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, General Secretary of the Udupi district unit of the BJP took charge as the new Chairman of the Coastal Development Authority at its office on Dec 31, Monday.
After taking charge, Hegde said he will start working towards planning for a few new projects, apart from working on the detailed projects reports have been prepared by his predecessor.
Speaking on the projects, he said that the CDA will start the planning work for implementing Jyotirgrama project based on Gujarath model, in order to supply electricity 24X7 in villages. The project will select a taluk for the experimental purpose, he added.
Hegde said that further he will urge the government to increase the budgetary allocation to the CDA in the coming budget and also urge to approve the projects planned by the CDA.
A G Kodgi, Chairman of State Third Finance Commission Task Force persisted the CDA Chairman to pressurize the government for the developmental work in the coastal districts.
Raviraj was appointed as the new CDA Secretary.
MLC Monappa Bhandary, BJP District Unit President Padmanabh Kottari and others were present.
The new Chairman Vikramarjuna Hegde has served as the President of Udupi District BJP Yuva Morcha and Udupi District BJP General Secretary for the last nine years.
