Bantwal : The driver of a lorry was killed and the cleaner injured after the jelly stones laden lorry overturned on the Punacha Bulerikatte Road on November 4, Wednesday.

The lorry was transporting jelly stones from a quarry near Punacha when the mishap took place. The driver of the lorry who remained underneath the overturned vehicle for quite a long time, Driver Rafeeq breathed his last in the meantime.

The body was taken out with the help of the locals. The cleaner was lucky enough to suffer minor injuries.

Locals complain that the several jelly stones laden lorries which proceed from the quarries in the locality move at great speed endangering the lives of pedestrians as well as other motorists.
