Udupi: Brahmavara police arrived on the scene to register a case on Monday evening in rash driving on Suratkal-Kundapura stretch on NH66 (17), when the work was in full swing on four-laning undertaken by the Navyug construction Co, the road contractors.
Their vehicles have been moving in full speed, with least care/consideration for other lives and/or properties around.
Highway authorities and local police have not bothered to keep an eye on accidents. But on Monday evening a tipper vehicle of the contractors passing by, crushed a bicycle under its fast wheels, while the bike was in parking condition near Akashavani circle.
The broken bike belonged to Mohan, owner of Panchami studio who had parked it in a corner as usual below his studio, but reckless tipper drive had crushed it.
The vehicle drivers are young in age and speedy in driving the vehicles. Did they have licenses to drive tippers, was not known even under verification.
Only the police could tell.
