Mangaluru: As a precautionary measure for the upcoming Tippu jayanthi the district administration have imposed section 144 in the district from November 9, 6pm to November 12, 6 pm.
These measures have been taken as last year many undesirable incidents had taken place on the background of Tippu Jayanthi. This year also many organisations especially Hindu outfits are objecting the Tippu jayanthi celebrations.
In a meeting held at DC Office on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh issued an order to impose section 144 in the district considering the last year’s untoward incident and to celebrate the Tippu Jayanthi in a peaceful manner.
“No processions, public gatherings or programmes are allowed. No speeches or statements which may hurt the religious feelings are allowed. Provocative slogans, distributing the pamphlets, provoking communal tension or insult are allowed,” he said.
He further said that if someone found doing the not allowed things during the implementation of section 144 then strict action will be taken against such persons.
“This rules and regulations do not apply for private functions such as marriage, birthday and others. Routine activities of the public should not be hindered during the section 144,” he added.
