Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has informed that the state government sponsored Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated at a single venue and no celebrations will be conducted in any other parts of the district. The jayanti will be celebrated at 10 AM in Netravati Hall of Zilla Panchayat in Mangaluru on November 10. The programmes will follow all government formalities to mark the birth anniversary of the Tipu, DC added.
Speaking in a press conference here on Thursday at DC office, Senthil said, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the district to prevent any unpleasant incidents. As many as 1200 police personnel including local police, KSRP personnel, and personnel from Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed to prevent any unpleasant incident.
Speaking in press meet, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said, no posters, banners will be allowed inconnection with the event without necessary permission from the concerned authorities. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to maintain peace and security in the district he added.
Mangaluru city police commissioner TR Suresh informed in press conference that the police have received security bonds from 80 persons who have criminal background and has kept a close vigil on the suspected persons in and round the city.
DC also informed that no names of Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik have been printed in the invitation cards of Tipu Jayanti following written requests from the duo.
