Mangaluru : The lockdown rules will be implemented strictly till June 14 in the district as the Covid positivity rate was presently 20% to 21% and there was a need to reduce it to 5% before lockdown restrictions could be eased said, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V.
Speaking to reporters on June 7, Monday, he said it has been decided to ensure cancellation of all scheduled marriages and other functions in all Gram Panchayats of the district where there are more than 50 positive cases. He said the decision was arrived upon after holding discussions with senior officials.
He said stern measures would be taken in the city corporation limits to prevent unnecessary movement of people and vehicles. Ten flying squads of the MCC would function in the city limits to ensure all Covid rules are followed and to see shops did not function beyond the permitted time.
He said Covid patients who do not have attached bathroom facility at home while in isolation will be compulsorily shifted to Covid care centres.
Of the 10,92,144 eligible people in the 18-44 age group, 51,919 have received the first dose of Covid vaccine so far registering a progress of 4.75%, the DC said. He said a total of 1,37,993 people in the 45-60 age group have received first dose and 27,314 people have got second dose. Of those above 60 years, 1,29,686 have received first dose (64.52%) and 56,696 have received second dose, the DC informed.
