Mangaluru: Karnataka Tourism Department has included the name of Sasihithlu beach in the coastal tourist spots list to attract the tourists into the beach and provide basic facilities like street lights, drinking water, toilets and others in the beach area. The beach is located just 25 km away from Mangaluru city.
The state tourism department had asked the district tourism branch to submit an estimation to develop the beach as a tourist spot further. A report on estimated project worth Rs 24 lakh has been submitted to the tourism department by its district branch to develop the basic facilities in the hot spot.
Haleangadi Grama Panchayat has already built a shed in the beach for the tourists to protect themselves from heavy sunlight and rainfall. For the time-being, construction works of a gate, toilets and others are being done by the panchayat. Four security guards have been deputed in the area to ensure the safety of the tourists whereas there are sanitary workers are working to keep the beach clean and safe.
Sasihithlu beach is a best location for surface water sport activities like boating, surfing and others. Last year, a national level surfing competition was organised and it became famous in the international level also.
