Udupi : State Tourism Minister Anand Singh laid the foundation stone for ‘Yathri Nivas’, a dormitory for visitors to the Krishna Mutt of Udupi. The five-storey building is estimated to cost Rs 4.5 crores. Of the total amount the Tourism Department has sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore.
The Minister also visited Heritage Village on this occasion. He assured that the Manipalla (Manipal) Lake development project would be taken up at the earliest.
G Sathyavathy, Director of Tourism, Latha Krishna Rao, Principal Secretary and others were present.
The Minister also visited Malpe beach and inspected the progress works undertaken there. He promised that the government would spend Rs 2 crore towards the development of the beach.
The minister who inspected the Malpe boat jetty works, and said the local MLA Raghupathi Bhat has placed forth a demand for a separate jetty in St Mary’s Island.
