Mangalore: The Trade unions have the responsibility upon them to provide workers the facilities offered by state government. To this extent, the labour wing started by Tulunad Rakshana Vedike recently, could do that job well, said Assistant Labour Commissioner Venkatesh A.Shindihatti, on Tuesday at Jeppu Mahakalipadpu, while inaugurating a unit in Sankappa Memorial Hall. He inaugurated a seminar on the role of workers in the development of Tulunadu (DK dt) at the same Venue.
He added that while state and Central Governments had formulated several schemes for the welfare of the workers in Karnataka they needed to know more about them for their own advancement.
For unorganized Labour sector, tow new schemes, one on pension(monthly payment), and the other on health insurance, had come into force, and these could protect the workers in their old age, if started early while working The ALC (Venkatesh)wanted every worker to join these schemes and contribute well in time.
J. Yogish Shetty, founder of TR Vedike, presided on the occasion. He assured all workers that his labour wing would respond to their problems as early as possible.
Ullal MLA, U.T.Khader, blessing the wing stated that this labour wing would do work soon. JD-S leader M.G. Hegde, Labour officer D.G. Nagesh, and several other TRV leaders were present.
