Mangalore : The All India General strike call given by various trade unions evoked a very good response in Mangalore. Only a handful of shops and hotels were functioning. Most of the theaters and malls in the city had downed shutters. A few private vehicles were on the roads, while private as well as government buses remained away from roads.

Most of the schools and colleges did not function.

However, a few autorickshaws functioned as usual and made good business in the absence of buses.

Various trade unions staged protest in front of DC office in the morning.
