Mangalore: Members belonging to various trade unions staged a jail bharo agitation in front of the DC office in Mangalore on December 19, Wednesday in support of several demands. Various trade unions including INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU BMS, DREU, RMS took part in the protest.
Earlier hundreds of workers took out a protest march from Town Hall till the DC office .
Addressing the protestors, B Madhava, State vice president of CITU said the demands of the workers to fix their minimum salary at Rs 10,000, security for workers, better perks and facilities on par with permanent workers, have been a cry in the wilderness and demanded justice.
He said an all India strike would be held on February 20 and 21 if their demands were not fulfilled.

Several of te protestors were arrested and later released.
