Bengaluru: In a major setback to the Karnataka government, the tribunal has rejected the interim plea of the state over Mahadayi river dispute, on Wednesday.
Addressing the press personnel Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Prime Minister should intervene in the matter. PM should hold talks with Goa and Maharashtra governments.
“The government will do all the necessary things to bring the water to Karnataka. An honest effort will be made by the government. I have contacted the lawyers and discussed about the further move. We had asked for 7.56 TMC water, but the court has denied to grant it,” he said.
He further said that Belagavi, Naragundha people should maintain the peace. Don’t get depressed, the government is always with the farmers. The government will fight for farmers’ rights.
“I haven’t seen the judgement copy yet. I have called all parties meet in next week. The matter will be discussed thoroughly in the meet,” he added.
Meanwhile, many organisations have called for Karnataka bundh on Thursday.
