Mangalore : The UXCEL- Trinity Mangalore will stage a charity show ‘Ramayana’ in English at St Agnes College Auditorium, Bendore on November 3, Saturday from 6pm to 8 pm.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on October 31, Wednesday, Prof Maria Phyllis D’Costa, director of the show said that over 100 artists will be taking the show held in aid of destitute, deprived and diseased children. It will usher in Diwali the festival of lights.
She also said that reading, researching, recreating and staging India’s epic ‘Ramayana’ in English in poetic drama form, has been both exhilarating and daunting, because of its classic weave of stories, characters and climes, themes of love, honour and separation and most importantly the victory of good over evil. It also comprises of hundred amateur actors and dancers of different ages from different walks of life, who are brought together by training and practice from past three weeks.
In order to bring in the epic flavour, the team determined to blend in the skills of drama and communication, classical music, song, dance and yakshagana.
The entry fee for the show ranges from Rs 200, Rs 300 and Rs 500. The tickets are available in School Book Company, Carstreet and Dinoo’s Falnir and the sale is quiet good.
The charity collected through the show will be given to Prashanth Nilaya, White Doves and Cardts Samvedana.
Co- ordinator Savitha Salian, event manager Hisrar Tallani and RJ Vishwas Kamath from Big FM were present.
