Mangalore :A total of 83 cartons of foreign made cigarettes worth Rs 83000 were seized  by the customs authorities at the Mangalore Airport on February 15. Three persons  have been arrested.

Those detained are Shaidu Manakkad.Thekke Peedikayil and Moideenkunhi Bangarakunnu Abdulla from Kasargod and Kunhikoya Thangal from Bantwal. According to  D Purushottam, Commissioner of Mangalore Customs said the  cigarette packets did not bear  statutory pictorial health warning as prescribed under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008 and the amendment rules 2009.

The trio had arrived by an Air India Express flight by Dubai. All the three had arrived at the Mangalore airport by an Air India Express Flight from Dubai.
