Kumble: Truck-Container lorry collision on Mangaluru-Kasaragod national high (NH) near Kumble bridge in Kasaragod district killed one and injured three on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Biju Elamallur (45), a resident of Alappuzha district, Kerala. Biju was driving the truck loaded with fish when the incident took place. Another Alappuzha resident Babu (39) who was travelling with the deceased has survived with injuries and being treated at a hospital in Mangaluru.

Other two injured Uttar Pradesh natives, Santhosh and Santhin were moving in the container lorry when the accident took place. The duos have also been admitted to hospital.

The container lorry collided with the truck subsequently toppled and fell into a roadside ditch. The truck was on its way to Alappuzha from Mangaluru while the container lorry was plying towards Mangaluru. Vehicular movement on national highway was disrupted soon after the accident and Kumble police with the support of fire brigade personnel, restored the traffic.
