Mangaluru: “The concerned officials are planning to collect toll at Talapady toll gate without completing even 95% of the national highway expansion related works. If the company in charge for toll collection tries to collect toll then, the Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike with the support of locals will stage protest against toll collection,” said Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike founder president Yogish Shetty in a press meet in the city on Thursday.
Yogish Shetty alleged that the company responsible for toll collection hasn’t arranged necessary facilities at Talapady toll gate area. Also, the construction works of bus stand, drainage, electric poll and others near the toll gate are incomplete.
The highway expansion works aren’t completed according to the rules and regulations of the government. The company which undertook the works hasn’t yet provided compensation to the land owners who lost their respective land while constructing the toll gate in Talapady.
The company responsible for the collection of toll fee will collect toll from at four different locations in between Talappady and Kundapur and this is likely to be a burden to the travelers, he said.
He noted the fact that, the representatives of the people haven’t yet concentrated on the toll issue. The concerned government authorities should try to solve the toll problems otherwise they would face consequences, Shetty warned.
