Mangalore : The Tulunada Rakshana Vedike along with the residents of Mahakalipadpu staged a protest against the bad condition of the road and poor drainage system at Mahakali Padpu, Jeppu on January 6, Thursday.
The members staged a rasta roko on the road for over two hours against the district administration for not taking steps to repair the road.
Addressing the protesters, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, president of Tulunada Rakshana vedike said that the condition of the Mahakali Padpu- Bolar road leading up to Mangalore city is in bad condition. The road is turning to nightmare both for motorist as well as pedestrians.
More than 20,000 people also demand to fulfill demands. In the past, though several demands were put forth by the people to develop the road by holding protests, there was no response from the concerned department or people’s representatives, he said.
In the protest they said that Mahakali Padpu, which comes under town municipality, is lacking from good drainage facility. The residents of this area have been leading a miserable life due to this. Apart from this there are 46 trains passing from this track and every time the road is blocked with the gate and this causes the waste of precious time, he added.
Members like Hameed Madoor, Jyothika Jain, Naveen Suvarna Tannirbavi, Sallauddin Ayub, J Ibrahim, Ratnakar Suvarna, Ravi Prakash Boluvar and others were present.
