Mangaluru: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike staged a protest in front of the Kadri Market on Thursday, against the Mangalore City corporation to provide basic facilities at Kadri Market.
Addressing the protesters, Yogish Shetty Jeppu President of the Tulunada Rakshana Vedike said, “ In 2000, the Kadri Market was shifted and built in a hurry but now the market is in a Pitiable Condition . There are no proper drainage and parking facilities. During the construction of the market, rules were not followed and the market was built in a hurry, he added.
The government is getting more than Rs 9 lakh income from the market but the funds have not been utilized for the maintenance of the market, he said.
The government is generating Rs 75,000 per month from the Kadri market, but not a single penny has been spent for the development of the Market in the last 16 years. If the market will not be developed soon, we will stage a protest in front of MCC”, said TRV member Gerald Towers .
Tulunada Rakshana Vedike Genaral secretary Prashanth Bhat Kadaba, Jyotika Jain, Siraj Adkare and others were present.
