Mangalore: Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Award presentation ceremony would be held at Town Hall on June 16.

Informing this to reporters at the Academy ‘Chavadi’ in Mangalore, Academy President Umanath Kotian said the Honorary Awards of the Academy will be presented to Bola Chittaranjandas Shetty (literature), Seetaram Shetty (theatre)  and TA Srinivas (film) on the occasion. Puttige Padmanabha Rai, Ratnaker Rao Kavoor and Dr Ashok Alva will be conferred the Academy Book Awards, Kotian informed.

Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat will preside over the function which will be inaugurated by Bannanje Babu Amin, noted folk scholar. The Academy Awards and the Book Awards will be conferred by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Krishna Palemar respectively.

An anthology of poems by Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla “ Kavigalu Kanda Tulunadu’ will be released on the occasion by veteran writer  Hampa Nagarajaiah.

Among the chief guests who will be present are Mayor Gulzar Banu, Zilla Panchayat President Shailaja Bhat, Katapady Shanker Poojari, Udupi ZP Chief, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Ram Shetty, film director,  Gurukiran, music director, UT Khader, and Srinivas Poojari, Legislators.

Cultural programmes including a skit by Nesara Artists, Guttigar and Tulu play by Lalitha Koota will be held.
