Mangaluru : Senior actor, director Tulu theater artist, Kudroli Shri Bhagvati Kshetra Managing trustee, Madhava Jappu Patna (66), passed away on Thursday morning.
He was admitted to Indiana hospital with fever and low oxygen levels. He had been in treatment for the past 24 days, and had severe breathing difficulties due to Crona infection.
Madhava Jappu Patna is the recipient of several prestigious awards including the State Award.
Madhava serves as the Vice President of Sri Bhagavathi Tiya Seva Sangha and Navanidhi Co-operative Bank.
He has won numerous prestigious awards and titles including the State Award, which has brought to light many talents as a senior artist of Tulu Theater.
He was awarded the Best Actor Award for his role in the Bhakta Markandeya Drama Competition at the District level School Drama Competition in the Twelfth year.
Madhava Japu Patna has composed 8 dramas including Peddha Gunde, Pura Dongilu, E Ball Yava, Porlugu Marlanda, Sajige Bajil, Ande Pirkulu, Bangar Kandani, Lekka Tattnd major plays.
The role of Peddugunda in Peddha Gunde drama, the role of Sankhu in the Muskiri Mulporchi drama, the role of Kariya in the Kariye Katti Katimani drama, the role of the drunken Babu in the Bangar Kandani drama and the role of Kitta in the E Ball yava drama, which is brought him a good name in Tulu theater plays.
He also acted in Tulu cinema Bangar Patler as a police constable.
He was prominent in the Saliyan family’s Guliga Daiva worship.
The deceased is survived by wife Hemalatha, two children, Pawan, Pranam daughter-in-law Archana, two brothers and one younger brother.
The funeral will take place today at 1 pm at Nandi Gud crematorium.
