Mangaluru: A delegation of Tulu Theatre Artistes’ Federation met State Minister for Kannada and Culture Jayamala at Circuit House and has submitted a memorandum to her enlisting several of their demands.
The memorandum has urged the minister to raise the monthly pension of distressed artistes from Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000, to construct a Ranga Mandir in Mangaluru and to clear the obstacles in the way of sanctioning grants for staging plays on behalf of Kannada and Culture Department and the Tulu Sahitya Academy.
The delegation also urged the minister to ensure grants for theatre festivals, training camps and demonstrations and also to felicitate talented Tulu theatre artistes during Rajyotsava.
Another appeal made was to permit staging of plays based on the lives of valiant men and women of Tulunad and freedom fighters during Dasara cultural programmes.
President of the Federation Kishore D Shetty, Lakshman Kumar Malloor, V G Pal, Pradeep Alva and others were present.
