Mangalore : In a district level meeting of JD(S) workers it was decided that JD(S) members should not join the Tulunad Rakshana Vedike(TRV), but this decision and JD(S) district unit chairman’s advice to JD-S men was condemned by TRV in a statement on October18.
In the presence of several members of TRV, the leaders explained that the Vedike was not a political faction like JD-S, but a social organization having all Tulu people from whichever party they belonged to. It was the raging voice of Tulu-speaking youths.
It was improper to exclude Tulu youths from political parties, of which leaders are often criminals. If JD-S Tulu members can join Lions’ Club and such other foreign-based service organizations, what prevents them from joining a pure Tulu front which is national in spirit, the leaders asked.
Why they should be kept out? The JD-S decision to exclude TRV, was open to ridicule. The JD-S chief should apologise publicly to TRV in this respect, they demanded.
TRV chief Yogish Shetty Jeppu asked JD-S local unit to serve local people and strengthen its Capacity for public service, instead of criticising or excluding TRV, or else, and agitation would be held against such biased JD-S leadership in DK district he warned.
