Mangalore: About 3 weeks ago a 65 year old Cashewnut Factory Worker named Bhavani who lived in a house at Karmika Colony, Shakthinagar was killed by some robbers in a gang for her gold ornaments and cash. Her body was thrown in a ditch near the Cashewnut factory. Despite repeated request by Tulunada rakshana Vedike members, the local police have not conducted any search for the gang of robbers, nor have they recovered the lost ornaments belonging to dead person.
The Vedike Chief Yogish Shetty Jeppu in aletter adderss to D.C, N. Prakash on Monday Dec.2, with copies to top police officers,Minister in charge B.R. Rai and the state government has firmly asked the authorities concern not to neglect the death case in which Vedike had taken the body to a hospital in vain.
The CPC has been requested now to initiate an enquiry into the entire case which has created public fear in Shakthinagar where people do not move on roads after sun set these days, said Yogish.
A protest rally was held at DCO on Monday, Dec.02 at 11 am seeking justice for the dead and punishment for the culprits when they are caught. The letter was hande3d over to DC at his office nearby.
