Mangalore: The Kacharu bridge stonewall in the Kotekaru GP limits having collapsed under monsoon fury, it should be promptly repaired and re-built for convenience of users, the Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike(TRV) demanded in a Road-blocking demonstration on Monday at Kotekaru.
The bridge connected Beeri, Kotekaru, Talpady areas to Deralakatte region. For sometime, there has been an apprehension that the prevention wall of the bridge could fall any movement, and even after complaining to concerned engineers and officers, repairs were not quite Undertaken, said Yogish Shetty Jeppu addressing the crowds making protest against the Govt. The demonstrators sat on the road to prevent passing Vehicular traffic, as PWD officials did not renovate the collapsing walls near the bridge. If they did not wake up from their daytime slumber, severe protests would be Organised against them, Jeppu warned.
The PWD officers promised to take up the matter in 7 days. Ullal MLA U.T.Khader who joined the protest rally, promised to take part with protestors, by sitting in the middle of the road. Several TuRave leaders were present, along with labour unit bosses.
