Mangalore: Genearal secretary Hameed Hasan Madur has pointed out on Monday in a statement from Tulunadu Protection Forum(TRV)that some houses built only 20years ago at Mahakalipadapu by MCC for its Civic staff, had shown cracks and collapsed in rains, rendering inmates homeless and distressed.
A roof had fallen and walls broken in a house, thereby those living in and around are frightened of tragic events to come.
Some permanent employees handling sanitary and other services lived in thee houses.
There were 12 houses in each building and the complex had 3 of them. In the last 2 decades, there was no maintenance of these 36 houses which now look neglected.
The MCC workers had complained in writing about the sorry state of affairs in all these years, but no remedy was provided by employers, the release said. The inmates warned of storming the MCC, if no rescue plan is worked out soon for them, in a protest meeting attended by the locals.
