Kumble-Bambrana: The Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike opened a new unit at Bambrana near Kumble, under Pradeep Alva on Tuesday, when the Founder Yogish Shetty handed a Forum flag to him as a token.
Speaking on the occasion, Shetty made it clear that the Forum had not divisions but included all Tuluvas who wanted to protect local(Tulu) culture and legal rights of the people of this coastal land. The local people under no circumstances shall be deprived of civic facilities that make them citizens of this region.
After the linguistic states were formed, Tulu as a language and local culture was left out of due recognition by the rulers under the constitution. It has become a basic necessity for all Tuluvas to fight for their dignity and decent livelihood under one common flag of the Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike he pointed out.
The unit office was opened in Tilak nagar here. The Kumble GP vice-president, Manjunath Alva, presided over the function. The main guests in their appeals to local people, called for a united outlook to fight injustices heaped on Tulu speaking people, and to secure their birthrights here.
Several members of Tulu Academy of Kerala participated. Office-bearers of other units of TVR in the neighbourhood and Bambrana unit office-bearers were sitting together like brothers. Hon. Adviser Dr. U. Ganesh Shetty of Bambrana explained the aims and possible activities of the local unit members. Kerala Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike secretary, Sathish Shetty welcomed and conducted the proceedings.
Several Tulu Academy members, Kerala Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike units members, also Talapady-Kunjathur and labour cell members, were present.
