Udupi: The Tulu Sahitya Academy (TSA) and Sri Tuluva Chavadi joined hands to organise a Women’s day on May Day, for Tulu women at Ravindra Kala Mantapa in Udupi MGM College on Tuesday, May1.
‘Kanchilda Bale’ Tulu stage and film personality Chaitra Hedge inaugurated the daylong programme for women, by offering water to a Tulsi plant, in the spirit of ‘Koti Namarchane’ that concluded on April 29 after 10 days in Mangalore.
Siri Tulua chief Y.N Shetty referred to someone telling in 2010, that Tulu would vanish by 2060. The responsibility to protect it was with TSA.
After some Tulu movies and are forms, the stage was set for women. MLA Raghupathi Bhat was chief guest.
The speakers wanted to tread slowly with case on the Tulu ground. Tulu had to be taught from the cradle.
While making public speeches, one’s education was not enough, but culture of the society was important.
Bhat promised to speak in Tulu at the Vidhana Sabha sessions.
Chief Editor of monthly ‘Anupama’, M. Shahnaz said she was a mixture of many languages. It any improvement is to be made in any language, it should be continuously used, she said.
Umanath Kotian(TSA chief), Ramesh Kalmady, Vasanth Shetty (Sri Tulu), CMC chief Kiran Kumar among others, were present.
