Udupi: The Railway Police have arrested two persons of Rajasthan origin who were found in possession of unaccounted cash worth over Rs 1.50 crores while travelling in the Netravathi Express. The accused were travelling in the AC compartment.
It has been gathered that a person was waiting at Indrali Railway Station to get the cash from the duo.
The cash was found when the railway security wing was conducting a routine inspection in the backdrop of the several cases of thefts in the train
IT officials as well as election officials have visited the spot and are conducting the investigations. The arrested duo have reportedly told the police that they brought the cash to purchase land. However, in the wake of bye-elections in Byndoor there is a suspicion if this cash was meant for distribution to voters.
