Mangaluru : Personnel from Childline and Urwa Police Station on Thursday rescued a six-year-old boy and a four-month-old child from begging before the Shiradi Saibaba Temple in Chilimbi.
According to an official press release, the boy and the child were with two women. While the child was being carried by a woman on her shoulder, the boy was loitering with a woman who had a cow. The two women were seeing begging before the temple.
The Childline personnel said the woman carrying the child was from Andhra Pradesh while the other woman was from Badami in Karnataka. They claimed that their families were in distress due to drought. They were staying in separate tents near Bhagwan Mahaveer Circle and in Kodikal, the Childline personnel said.
The Child Welfare Committee has rehabilitated the two children, the release said.
