Mangalore: Dinesh Amin (27) and Manoj B Shetty (33) both involved in the rape case of a 12 year old Dalit girl (unnamed) in 2011 have been sentence to 7 years of imprisonment by the second Sessions Court judge on December 4, 2013, after extensive search for the criminals their capture and proceeding in the court of law. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the 2 culprit.
It is said that Manoj Shetty an Auto rickshaw driver, kidnapped the Dalit girl when she was returning from school in June 2011 and took her to his house in Bajpe. He then called Dinesh Amin and both committed the crime and threatened her that she would be killed if she told anyone about the incident.
The Bajpe police headed by Officer ACP Puttamadaiah who investigated the case arrested Dinesh Amin while, Manoj Shetty, was absconding. Shetty was cause later.
The penalty was Rs.10000 imposed on both has to be paid by the criminals Dinesh Amin(Rs.8000). The court gave its verdict on Wednesday December 4, 2013, in the presence of large clouds waiting for the judge’s order.
