Mangaluru: Anglers from city and other parts of the county will take part in the two-day Angling Carnival to be held at Panambur beach from December 24. The angling will be on the northern breakwater of New Mangalore Port Trust located near the lighthouse.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Development Project Yatish Baikampady said a maximum of 100 anglers will take part in the angling competition held for the first time at Panambur. Apart from anglers from three local angling clubs, anglers from Benglauru,
Thiruvananthapuram, and other parts of the country will participate in the event.
A few anglers from Dubai too will take part, he said. Mr. Baikampady said the northern breakwater is the place where fish is found in good number. A batch of 33 anglers will sit for three hours each to catch fish in different time slots on both days. The judges will record the catch of each angler and release the fish back to water.
The angling competition will begin at 6 a.m. on December 24 There will also be digital ludo competition for children and street dance competition. There will a be stalls providing different fish delicacies. There will be musical programme and prize distribution on December 25, he said.
