Mangalore: The press persons(Print-TV media) have a responsibility towards the whole world which is attached to it for news dissemination and visual reporting, said Fr. Swebert D’Silva, inaugurating a Press programme called Media Manthan-2012, which is a 2-day national level Seminar on the Media and Environment.
He planted saplings in a symbolic opening act. As principal of SAC, Fr. D’Silva welcomed the delegates to his renowned educating institution of 125 years.
He congratulated the SAC Mass Communications department, for choosing a topic that was timely relevant, as the need of the hour. He advised the media to report truly, and to ensure that truth of the matter was not distorted, to suit somebody’s convenience (as in R. Murdoch’s case in UK).
Several papers were presented on various aspects of the main topic on Saturday. Dr. Richard Rego, HOD chaired the session.
The experts came from Goa, Pune, Kerala besides Karnataka. Competitive events for college students in Ice-breakers(new topic), In-Grid(story board), Shutter bug(photos), and on Air(live Commentary) were conducted on the first day of 2-day seminar.
Delegates of 10 colleges were present in the events. On Sunday, papers will be presented by Teachers and students, besides inter collegiate competitions would be held., on News bulletins, and Jockeying and film making. It is a rich event for media folks.
