Mangaluru : There is ample of opportunities for investors in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at a two-day national vendor development programme cum exhibition organised by Branch MSME Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Mangaluru, in association with District Industries Centre, Dakshina Kannada and District Small Industries Association, Yeyyadi, at Town Hall, on Tuesday.
The Centre has been promoting entrepreneurship through Make in India, Skill India and Mudra loans. ‘Make In India’ initiative attempts to transform India into a global manufacturing hub and generate large-scale employment. It aims at promoting desi industries.
He said the Centre is contemplating on setting up a plastic park on a 300-acre land at Ganjimutt in Mangaluru. The park will come up using the raw materials from MRPL.
In his presidential address, MLA J R Lobo said that a sum of Rs 2,500 crore has been sanctioned for various development works in Mangaluru. Priority will be given for infrastructure development.
A souvenir was released by Mayor Kavitha Sanil.
District Industries Centre joint director Gokuldas Nayak said that programme aimed to provide an opportunity to micro, small and medium enterprises to showcase their capabilities to the various wings of the government, establishments of railways, defence, public sector undertakings and other large-scale private enterprises who outsource from micro and small enterprises.
The exhibition had exhibits from MSMEs, South Western Railways, ONGC-MRPL, KIOCL, HAL-Kasargod, NPCIL-Kaiga and banks.
