Mangalore : Two luxury cruise vessels M V Legend of the Seas, with 1,707 passengers and 795 crew and M.V. Pacific Princess with 585 passengers and 378 crew called at New Mangalore Port on April 13, Saturday. This is the third and fourth cruise vessel calling at the port during the beginning of the current fiscal year 2013-14.
Legend of the Seas has passengers from 40 nations across the globe mainly from US, Canada and the UK. It came from Cochin while the Pacific Princess with passengers from the US and the UK sailed in from Phuket, Thailand.
Nearly 2000 passengers opted for a ground tour which was arranged by local tour operators. They visited several places of tourist importance including Mangaladevi Temple, Gokarnanatha Temple, St Aloysius Chapel, Savira Kamba Basad at Moodbidri, Soasn Farm etc. The cruise vessels later sailed out to Goa.
Earlier, on its arrival, NMPT Chairman Dr. P. Tamilvanan, along with Traffic Manager and Deputy Traffic Manager welcomed the vessels by presenting bouquets to the Captains. The passengers expressed their satisfaction over the best facilities available at the Port.
