Mangalore, Jan 20: Leelavathi has lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police Dr. A. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, accusing a man called Krishna Maniyani alias Appayya Maniyani (75) from Kolthige Village of Puttur of using black magic to control two of her daughters.
Speaking on the occasion, Leelavathi, who is working as a beedi roller and coolie, said that her first daughter Satyavathi (20) and second daughter Shashikala (19) were frequently visiting Krishna Maniyani’s house but later her elder daughter Satyavathi preferred to leave her parents and stay in Maniyani’s house. Now it’s already three years and when Leelavathi went to see her daughter at his house, she was not found. On questioning, Maniyani said that they got her married and now she is happy in her husband’s house. Leelavathi came in search of help from the police department with her younger sister Girija.
Leelavathi had first lodged a complaint at Sampya Police Station, but Sub Inspector Anand did not take her complaint seriously, following which she approached SP Dr. A. S. Rao today.
The Human Rights Federation of India central committee president, Balakrishna Rai has given the moral support to the victims to fight for justice.
The SP has assured the lady that he will investigate the issue.
