Mangalore: Lancelotot D’Souza alias Vincy(40) of Jeppu Bappal in Mangalore and his nephew Sharun D’Souza (26) of Kuttar who worked for a construction company at Muscat died due to suffocation on December 23, Sunday. It is learnt the coal they lit in their room to bear with the cold resulted in a thick smoke leading to suffocation.
Another person named Deepak of Uttar Pradesh who too was in the same room, has been admitted to hospital in a critical state. Sharun’s brother Sachith however was lucky as he woke up on sensing smoke. But by then Lancelot and Sharun were critical. Though they were rushed to hospital, they breathed their last there.
It is learnt Sharun had taken his uncle Lancelot who was in financial distress, to Muscat just twenty days ago.
The four were staying in a room in the construction site premises itself. The relatives of the deceased has sought the help of the Indian embassy to bring the bodies home.
Lancelot is survived by his wife Gracy and two daughters, while Sharun is survived by his parents Lawrence D’Souza and Mary D’Souza and a sister and two brothers.
