Udupi: Two students of Manipal Institute of Technology lost their lives when the bike which they were riding hit a road divider near Shiribeedu in Udupi on the night of October 1, Monday.

The mishap took place when the two were returning to Malpe. The deceased are Nishanth Yadya (21) from New Delhi and Sulatha Kamath (22) from Mangalore. Reports said Nishanth was over speeding and driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol.

If Nishanth was a third year student, Sulatha was a former student of the same institution and was supposed to appear for re-exam.

If Nishanth died on the spot, Sulatha succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. Her parents, it is learnt are in Abudabhi.

Udupi town police have registered a case.
