Mangalore : Two fishermen are said to be drowned about 500 metres off the coast of Mukka, after their country boat capsized on August 25, Monday.
The deceased fishermen are identified as Madhukar (38) and Tejpal (22) both residents of Sasihitlu.
Reportedly, seven persons including Chandra, Ritesh, Anand, Anil, Manoj Suvarna, Tejpal and Madhukar went for fishing in the country boat belonging to Manoj. But when they were returning back in the evening, the boat got stuck in an estuary about 500 metres away from the shore and capsized. However, four managed to swim to safety while two were pulled by the waves.
Noticing two in danger, other fishermen raised an alarm.
Suratkal police and coast guard personnel stared a search for the missing persons but, could not trace them. The Search operation is still in process. The locals too offered prayers for their safety.
