Mangalore: Two persons, said to be accomplices of underworld dons Ravi Poojari and Kali Yogisha, have been arrested by the police on charges of extortion.
Speaking to reporters, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar said the arrested are Taranath and Subrahamanya alias Subbu. They reportedly used to threaten businessmen with an intention of extortion. The commissioner said the duo used to ask businessmen to send the money to the milk booth at PVS Circle and accordingly acting on a tip off the booth was raided and the two arrested.
A cash of Rs one lakh and eight mobile phones have been seized. The extortion money was reportedly sent to Dinesh and Pratap, accused in the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji. The duo are said to be Ravi Poojari henchmen.
Investigations are in progress.
