Udupi: In a tragic incident, two persons died as they fell into a tanker while cleaning it at Padukere, Kota on September 25, Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Abbas (45) and Salam (20).

It is learnt that, the tanker belonging to Abbas was carrying waste from Janata Fish Meal Company from past three years on contract basis.

After transporting the waste, the duo was cleaning the tanker container when suddenly Salam slipped and fell inside the container. Abbas who saw his nephew Salam fell inside the container, went to rescues him and he too slipped inside the container in an unconscious state.

The locals who came to know about the incident, managed to take both out of the container. But unfortunately both died on the way to hospital before getting medical treatment.

Salam was helping his uncle Abbas since his regular cleaner was on leave. Abbas who has bought the tanker with a loan recently is survived by his wife and two children.

A case has been registered at Kota police station.
