Karkala: Two students of a college in Puttur, Immanuel Pradip(22) an Shivananda Nayak(22) were arrested by police on Aug.18, for taking away four gold chains valued at Rs1,13,500 on Aug13 here. The two boys are from Hebri and Puttur respectively.
A shop employee, Shobha grew suspicious of Immanuel Pradip who came to Santosh Jewellery in the night (7-30PM) asking for gold chains, but clicked his photo on her mobile while pretending to call the owner. Pradip duped her when she went in to bring a larger gold chain to show him, and took away those 4 left at the counter. Shivananda Nayak was waiting on a motorbike outside and the two strangers escaped with chains.
The police of Karkal caught the main culprit with the help of Shobha’s click on her phone made on Aug13. All the gold chains and the vehicle used to make a getaway were confiscated from the 2 students under arrest. The police team came in for appreciation, apart from shop girl Shobha, who photographed Pradip.
